A new method to create geographic thematic contour map has been presented from spatially referenced rastered data using the filter technology based on comprehensive analysis on the defects of classis smothing lineal object, and then the choice and optimization for modular parameters were discussed. Using the filter in TIN with ARC/INFO GIS software, the ocean surface temperature contours were successfully created by multi-filtered procession.
