The present outline of the relief of the central part of Kwangtung province was formed toward the end of the Mesozoic orogenic movement. Larga hodies of granitic intrusion were produced in the east and west sides of the Peikiang and in the south side of the lower Sikiang. As a result of these granitic iniru-sions, high lands were formed. The area between the high lands was occupied by a low basin.
