我国各省多未经精密之水准测量,参谋本部制五万分一图及十万分一图中所标志之高度,殊难凭信。近顷坊间所印行地图上山峰之高度,多依据空盒气压表所测定,各图互有出入,使人莫知适从。

China has not been accurately surveyed, the height of mountain peaks in China are very uncertain. Figures on the maps, indicating the altitude of the mountains,are usually taken from aneroid readings, and vary greatly from one map to another.
