摘要: 空间数据模型是关于GIS中空间数据组织的概念和方法,反映现实世界中空间实体及其相互之间的联系,是描述GIS空间数据组织和进行空间数据库设计的理论基础。国内外GIS研究和发展的实践表明,对空间数据模型的认识和研究在很大程度上决定着GIS系统和应用的成败。因此,国际GIS学术界和产业界对空间数据模型的研究一直十分重视和关注。本文将首先简要介绍GIS空间数据模型研究的重要性和意义,然后分别论述GIS的空间概念数据模型、逻辑数据模型和物理数据模型的基本概念和基本问题,继而介绍和讨论GIS空间数据模型的国际学术前沿和笔者当前在这方面的研究工作。

Abstract: A spatial data model provides data description concepts and methods useful for GIS spatial data modeling.The important concepts include the spatial entities and their spatial relationships which are used to construct spatial database schema in designing GIS tools and implemention GIS projects. Since spatial data models play a very important role in the development of GISs, many R & D efforts have been devoted to the study of spatial data models by GIS academic community and industry in the world.This main objective of this paper is to identify the cutting-edge problems of current spatial data models and discuss what should be done in the future R&D. After a brief introduction of the importance of the study of spatial data models, the second section examines the key issues and cutting-edge problems on the conceptual data modeling, logical data modeling and physical data modeling in GISs. Some of the research directions on spatial data models and the author’s research initiatives are discussed in the third section.
