The study of urban shopping centre location is one of the important themes in urban geography. In the present paper, applying location theory and quantitative analysis, through investigations, the author attempted to study the classification and hierarchy of shopping cen-tres, and the factors affecting shopping centre location in Shanghai’s urban area.
