Using the data 1949-1959 the author analyzes the climatic characteristics of the thunderstorms in China. The map of distribution of thunderstorms in China is shown and the seasonal variations of the occurrence and the characteristics of thunderstorms in different parts of our country are discussed.It is shown that the thunderstorms activity in different parts of our country has their own peculiarities in both the synoptic aspects and the cloud physical aspects. Hence in the thunderstorm forecasting practices and hail suppression experiments we have to take these peculiarities into consideration.
