The pictorial representation of the three dimensions of the earth surface has always been of special concern to cartographers. Several such drawings have al-ready b,.en published in China, among which "The bird's-eye-view atlas of the to-pography of China" produced by Mr. Chen Shu-peng is the outstanding one. The technics employed in drawing this atlas are the combination of shading, layer tints and block diagram. Tlnts a more realistic effect is attained in the maps.
