Chuyung is a district which lies 50 kms. to the east of Nanking. It is a hilly region with Maoshan and Wuchishan in the eastern and northern parts respectively. Only in the narrow northern fringe and the southwestern part there are some small alluvial plains.The area of the whole district is 1,444 sq. kms. and the population is 279, 500 according to the census of 1933.
