Abstract: Fujian province is characterized by numerous mountains, broad seas and a subtro-pical climate. Mountains and hills cover more than 80% of Fujian's total land area. The natural resources of Fujian's mountain environment are quite rich, with a great variety of plants and animals, a huge volume of runoffs and hydro-electric potential and a climate favorable for growing subtropical trees fruits and crops. Mineral resou-rces are abundant as well.Based on features of Fujian's mountain environment, an over-all plan of "verti-cal agriculture" is tentatively proposed.
